In June 1882, the British sailing ship LAMMERMOOR, owned by J. Williamson and W. C. A. Milligan, the Waverly Line was wrecked off Bodega Reef in very thick weather, while on a passage from Australia to San Francisco. The wreck was sold at public action to J. P. H. Whitelaw for $750 and the cargo for $80.
